According to Bob
Dart (Waco Tribune-Herald,
July 27) our President and his
wife are described as being the quiet couple, or more
explicitly, “boring.” In other words, they limit the frequency
of expensive state dinners, have family and friends in for
parties that end at 9:30, are always punctual, never curse or
shout, and lead by example. They know who they are and what
their mission is. They have risen above our catastrophic times
and destructive political games.
I thank God every
day for our President and his wife and I pray that they will be
protected from those who viciously try to bring them down.
In the last few
weeks, the liberal group MoveOn has claimed to have sent more
than 400,000 letters to Capitol Hill calling for an independent
investigation of the President regarding the war in Iraq.
Already, this pressure has resulted in a bill before Congress
and hearings in the Senate.
The goal of these
attacks is simple: to undermine the President's credibility.
Just as the anti-war movement had little to do with Iraq (and
everything to do with opposing the President), this new call for
“investigations” is nothing more than a new and more aggressive
effort to attack President Bush.
The goal is to
use a willing media to plant the seed of suspicion and doubt in
the minds of the American people about the President, conduct
endless hearings into the war and ultimately weaken the
President heading into 2004.
