Carolyn's Room--A Granddaughter's Grand Legacy

Folks began sleeping in this room some 90 years ago, but that was long before we became a bed and breakfast. It is just one of numerous rooms in the estate of the Lyon family. For all those years until we had the opportunity of purchasing this old home, it had never left the ownership of the Lyon family. The daughter, Mrs. Bess Rowe, lived in the house until her death. And her daughter, Carolyn McDaniel, the granddaughter of Mr. Lyon and a wonderful friend of ours, encouraged us to make this and other rooms available to guests, which she says she thinks would please her mother very much.  Some of the family furniture is still in the home, such as this bed in "Carolyn's Room".

The pictures in this room are of Carolyn. Some of the furniture here is part of Carolyn's which she purchased as a young girl while working in her father's cafe. She was the youngest customer that the old Gilmore and Davis Furniture Company, famous throughout Texas for almost half a century. Her bed is a queen bed and the room has a private tub/shower bath, as well as a day bed which is available for the Extra Person charge of $21.
