In the process of cleaning out some cabinets the other day, I came across this poem written by my sister, Ann Cox. What our world needs to see are more of these "earthlings" who unselfishly serve and defend what is right. Ann writes poetry from her heart and, more than that, she gives of herself to her family and friends. She is my encourager and my example. Thank you, Ann.
Have you noticed, though, that those who practice the concepts of this poem are often discounted and discredited? What seems to cause the most uproar is truth simply spoken. What is truth? On any given day opinions of right and wrong run the spectrum and some even use Scripture to prove their point. Daniel Webster said, "There is nothing so powerful as truth--and often nothing so strange" (1830). Strange because we hear what is untrue from every side. Truth is ultimate reality and that reality is that "every one of us shall give account of himself to God" (Rom 14:12). Truth has always existed, will never change, and has no competition. This definition was given by Bruce Coe, who is pastor of Castle Hills First Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. He closed his message by saying that it is possible for us to co-exist peacefully, to get along, if we have something to get along with (that's truth--that's the standard). I realize that we are bombarded on every hand by those claiming to "have the truth." As I have mentioned in past newsletters, please locate some good, solid sources to help you sort out the bombardment. Here are some possible sources:
I love my children and grandchildren. I want a future for them. I feel compelled to get informed, to get involved, and to "stand for the truth." I would love to receive some feedback from you, my family and friends. Love, Jan Walters |
